1. About the App
ParrotTalk (Android package com.sunrise.parrottalk) provides:
- A full-screen Sugar Glider character with looping video animations
- Pre-recorded English sentence audio clips (~230 bundled WAV files) with on-screen subtitles
- Two interaction modes: Speak (listening + subtitles) and Idle (mood videos)
- A short first-launch tutorial and tap hints designed for children under 7
- Optional local learning reminders delivered by your device’s notification system
ParrotTalk does not include speech recognition, text-to-speech, a microphone, user accounts, in-app purchases, advertisements, or internet-based features.
2. Eligibility & Parental Responsibility
ParrotTalk is intended for young children, primarily those under 7 years old, used with a parent, guardian, or caregiver (“Caregiver”).
If the user is a minor, a Caregiver must review these Terms and supervise use of the app. By allowing a child to use ParrotTalk, the Caregiver accepts these Terms on the child’s behalf and is responsible for the child’s use of the app and any device permissions granted.
3. License to Use
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use ParrotTalk on a compatible Android device that you own or control, solely for personal, non-commercial, family use and in accordance with these Terms and applicable app store rules.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works of the app or its bundled media
- Redistribute, sublicense, rent, lease, or sell the app or its content
- Remove copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose
4. No Accounts or Payments
ParrotTalk does not require registration, login, or payment. There is no subscription, paywall, or in-app purchase in the current version. If paid features are introduced in a future version, we will update these Terms before they take effect.
5. Offline Operation
ParrotTalk is designed to work entirely offline.
All videos, audio clips, and app logic are bundled inside the app.
The Android version does not request the INTERNET permission and does not transmit
your data to our servers during normal use because no network connection is used.
The app remains functional in airplane mode. Occasional updates may be delivered through the Google Play Store when you choose to install them.
6. Local Notifications
ParrotTalk may offer local learning reminders scheduled on your device. These are not push notifications from the cloud; they are created and stored locally by the app.
- Reminders are scheduled approximately every 6 hours while the app is in use
- Notifications are suppressed during quiet hours (10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, device local time)
- On first launch, the app may request notification permission through your device’s system dialog
- You can disable notifications at any time in your device’s system settings
Granting notification permission is optional for core app features. Listening, video playback, and tap interaction work without notifications enabled.
7. Data Stored on Your Device
ParrotTalk stores a small amount of information locally on your device to improve the first-time experience. This data does not leave your device through the app itself.
- Tutorial completion — whether the first-launch tutorial was completed or skipped
- Tap hint state — whether the child has successfully tapped the character at least once
- Session playback memory — recently played audio clips during the current session (not saved after the app is closed)
- Scheduled notification times — managed by the device’s local notification system
Android may back up app data if you have device backup enabled. Backup behavior is controlled by your device and Google account settings, not by ParrotTalk’s servers.
8. Privacy Summary
We do not collect personal information through ParrotTalk during normal offline use. We do not operate analytics, advertising, or cloud sync in the current version. We do not access the microphone and do not record audio.
Your use of ParrotTalk is also subject to Google Play’s terms and policies. Google may process limited technical data related to app distribution, updates, and device compatibility according to Google’s own privacy policy.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree to use ParrotTalk only as intended: as a family-friendly, offline listening toy.
You agree not to:
- Attempt to bypass, disable, or interfere with app security or licensing mechanisms
- Extract or republish bundled media at scale outside normal personal use
- Use the app in any way that could harm children or violate applicable law
10. Intellectual Property
ParrotTalk, including its name, character artwork, videos, audio recordings, software code, and visual design, is owned by Sunrise or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other laws.
These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
11. Educational Purpose & Disclaimers
ParrotTalk is a playful listening aid, not a formal language course, tutoring service, or substitute for school instruction. We make no guarantee of educational outcomes, fluency, or age-specific suitability for every child.
The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Sunrise and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use ParrotTalk.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the app shall not exceed the amount you paid for ParrotTalk in the twelve (12) months before the claim. Because the app is currently provided without charge, this amount may be zero.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be noted in the Google Play Store listing or within a future app update.
Continued use of ParrotTalk after updated Terms are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
